Education:  

In 1994, Maria Anatolievna Livzan graduated with honours from the Omsk State Medical Institute, specializing in General Medicine. From 1994 to 1995, she completed a clinical internship, followed by a residency in internal medicine (therapy) from 1995 to 1997. Since 1997 she has been an assistant at the Department of Internal Diseases, since 2005 she has been a Deputy Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Education at OSMU, and since 2006, she has concurrently headed the Gastroenterology course at the Center for Advanced Training and Professional Retraining of Specialists. In 2012, she became Vice-Rector for Research and the Head of the Department of Faculty Therapy and Gastroenterology at OSMU. In 2018, she was elected Rector of OSMU, with re-election in 2024.

Professional Experience:

Professor Maria Livzan is a clinician certified in internal diseases (1995), gastroenterology (2001), and dietology (2017). She is a member of the Presidium of the Russian Gastroenterology Association, a member of the Expert Commission on Gastroenterology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, a lecturer at the National School of Gastroenterologists and at the National Internet Society for Internal Diseases «Internist», and a medical expert for the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare in the Omsk Region.

During her clinical residency, in 1997, Professor M.A. Livzan completed and defended her Candidate of Medical Sciences thesis on «The Clinical and Laboratory Characteristics of Intestinal Biocenosis Changes in Individuals with Thyroid Hypofunction» (scientific specialty: 14.01.04 – Internal Diseases). She earned her Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in 2006, defending her thesis on «Clinical and Morphological Characteristics of Helicobacter pylori Associated Chronic Gastritis Under Eradication Therapy» (scientific specialties: 14.03.02 – Pathological Anatomy, 14.01.04 – Internal Diseases). She was awarded the academic titles of Associate Professor of the Higher Attestation Commission (2015) and Professor of the Higher Attestation Commission (2019). Since 2016, Professor M.A. Livzan has led the «Science» group of the Cluster for Science and Education of the Siberian Federal District «Siberian». She is the author of over 220 scientific works, including two monographs and 15 methodological, educational, and educational-methodological manuals. Her h-index is 26.

Professional activity of Professor M.A. Livzan has been recognized with the following awards:
