Abstract
Despite the obvious progress in medicine and the rapid development of pharmacology, iron-deficiency anemia in the XXI century has become one of the nob-infectious pandemia., according to World Health Organization estimates, every second or third person on Earth has latent iron deficiency – sideropenia. Moreover, the consequences of iron deficiency and the conplications of this condition are experienced by people of all age categories and social groups, this problem has not this problem has long been not associated with low social status and insufficient nutritional status, being a paradox of civilization. The unprecedented scale of the COVID-19 pandemic, the variety of clinical forms, complications and the consequences of the infection is explained among other things, by a wide spread of iron deficiency conditions in modern people, since iron is an indispensable element for the functioning of the imune system – the main defender of human body. This article provides new, expanded ideas about the role of iron as one of the immunomodulatory factors (and thus a new vector for use of iron in the prevention and treatment of immunodeficiency states). This article describes the risk groups for the development of iron deficiency, describes the modern criteria for its diagnosis and reveals the potential of a unique compound of divalent iron – ferroceron, which is optimal for restoring and maintaining immunity in modern realities.
