<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The antimicrobial properties of the skin are optimal at an acidic pH. Staphylococci and other pathogenic bacteria multiply in a neutral environment and are inhibited by acidic skin pH values. In addition, the pH level in the stratum corneum of the skin is a determining factor in determining the synthesis of lipids. A shift in pH from acidic to neutral not only slows down regeneration, but also accelerates skin desquamation. Skin pH is influenced by a large number of endogenous and exogenous factors. These include age, skin type, body part, sweating intensity, use of soaps and other rinse-off and leave-on topicals. Changes in the pH of the skin can be observed in dermatosis, accompanied by a violation of the barrier function of the skin. In atopic dermatitis, skin pH is one of the important factors affecting the disease. The pH of the skin in patients with atopic dermatitis is generally higher than in healthy individuals. The role of skin pH in the pathogenesis of psoriasis is largely understudied, however, it is assumed that pH directly or indirectly influences the development of psoriatic lesions. A significant increase in skin pH was found in patients with ichthyosis vulgaris compared with patients with X-linked ichthyosis and healthy people. Normalization of skin pH is the most important aspect of both complex external therapy, chronic dermatosis accompanied by xerosis, and when choosing cosmetics for dry and very dry skin. There is a high need to expand the range of dermo-cosmetic products with cleansing, moisturizing and nourishing action, keeping the pH of the skin within the optimal range. The article summarizes the clinical experience of the combined use of innovative cosmetic product line for the treatment of dry, sensitive, and prone to irritation skin. Results of assessment of morphofunctional and clinical state of skin (hydration level, dryness, transepidermal water loss), demonstrate the beneficial effects of using the line of specialized cosmetic products with pH 5.0 to restore the protective function of skin and maintain an optimal level of skin hydration.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>наружные средства</kwd><kwd>сухая и очень сухая кожа</kwd><kwd>косметические средства</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>topical treatments</kwd><kwd>dry skin</kwd><kwd>skincare products</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Saba M.
