<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is conditioned by genetic susceptibility, environmental factors, lifestyle and features of the metabolic syndrome, many of which overlap with hepatocellular carcinoma. However, the multifactorial nature of NAFLD and the limited number of sufficiently powerful studies are among the current limitations for validated biomarkers of clinical utility. Further studies incorporating the links between circadian regulation and hepatic metabolism may represent an additional direction in the search for predictive biomarkers of liver disease progression and treatment outcomes. </p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>GWAS</kwd><kwd>Гастроэнтерология</kwd><kwd>Геном</kwd><kwd>Гепатоцеллюлярная карцинома</kwd><kwd>Метаболический синдром</kwd><kwd>Неалкогольная жировая болезнь печени</kwd><kwd>Неалкогольный стеатогепатит</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>non-alcoholic fatty liver disease</kwd><kwd>non-alcoholic steatohepatitis</kwd><kwd>hepatocellular carcinoma</kwd><kwd>metabolic syndrome</kwd><kwd>genome</kwd><kwd>GWAS</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Masarone M., Federico A., Abenavoli L. et al.
